The History of Australia
Australia was founded in 1836 by Dutch settlers from England. {1} Originally, they brought over English convicts to be held in Australia away from society in England. This worked for a while then free people from England settled in Australia and living together, they created a few colonies together. They eventually became an independant nation in 1901. {2} Australia's constitution was not an official document, they were just guidelines and sets of rules they came up with and started following. Nobody thought that a country started with convicted felons would become anything. After a while, Canberra was founded and made the Capitol of Australia in 1956. {2} Australia became really popular, mostly because of the geography in Australia. Tourism is huge in Australia and helped the economy tremendously! There is so much wildlife and beautiful sites to see in Australia. Australia has become a very popular country. The life style is fun, and it seems like living there is an all time vacation. Australia was chosen to host the Olympic Games in Melbourne Australia in 1956. This brought a lot of people to the country and they liked it. They spread the word... And boom, there are thousands our tourists coming to visit. Australia was never seen as a threat to other countries... This is a good thing, but can be a bad thing as well. Other countries can think that they are week and invade them, take over, who knows! The Australian government announced a multimillion dollar cruise missile program set to give Australia the most lethal air combat. Developing this new technology showed other countries that Australia isn't all just fun and games, they are just as capable to defend their country as well as other countries do. Australia isn't going to stop there, they are going to grow larger and smarter. Improve in technology and more.
